About Our Courses
Safe + Sound has been providing Red Cross First Aid and CPR training to the Metro Vancouver Area since 1999.The courses we currently run are Standard First Aid, Emergency First Aid, Workplace Emergency First Aid (OFA level 1), Emergency Child Care First Aid, CPR level A, CPR level C, CPR level HCP and Babysitting. All courses except Babysitting include AED (defibrillator) training.
We believe in making our first-aid courses as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. We know that if you enjoy your training, you will remember your skills and be more confident when using them in an emergency situation. Red Cross statistics show that if you have first aid training, your chance of personal injury is reduced by up to 45%!
Location
We run classes at our Coquitlam venue conveniently located near the Coquitlam Centre Mall and at Capilano Mall in North Vancouver through North Shore Community Resources NSCR). Both locations are easy to reach by public transport. You can take one of our public courses or arrange for us to come and teach a course at your venue in the Tri-Cities, Vancouver, New Westminster, Burnaby, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford or Richmond. Please contact us for information about onsite first aid training.
Teaching techniques
We cater for all learning styles by using a combination of teaching techniques that include:
- DVD support (video footage)
- PowerPoint presentation
- Instructional Posters
- Skills demonstration and practice
- Scenarios using props
- Moulage (fake injuries)
- Class discussions and Q&A
We have found that students learn more easily and have greater success when they are get hands-on experience using realistic props. Practical hands-on components are supported by a variety of training materials, based on course requirements, such as mannequins for CPR, AED (Automated External Defibrillator) trainers, bandages, splinting materials, barrier devices, first aid kits, auto-injector trainers and inhalers.
