Emergency First Aid & CPR C - Summary

Emergency First Aid & CPR C is a basic eight-hour course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. The course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. WorkSafeBC recognizes Emergency First Aid & CPR C as equivalent to Level 1 First Aid (OFA Level 1).

Basic First Aid

Emergency First Aid & CPR C is also known as Basic First Aid. The course includes 8.5 hours of training - 4 hours of online theory followed by 4.5 hours (+ breaks) of in-person skills training.

Emergency First Aid – Meets CSA Standard Z1210–17 – Basic.

Emergency First Aid & CPR C Course Details

Fee:
$115 per person. The course fee includes a new CPR pocket mask to use in class and take home. You will also have access to the Canadian Red Cross First Aid eBook.
Location:
1160 Lansdowne Drive, Coquitlam, BC, V3B 5V8    Our public course venue is conveniently located near Coquitlam Centre with easy access to SkyTrain and bus routes.
Duration:
4 hours online + 4.5 hours in class (plus breaks).
Online Learning:
The online self-paced study portion of the class must be completed before attending the in-person practical skills session.
CPR Level:
Emergency First Aid includes CPR/AED Level C (adult, child and infant skills).

WorkSafe BC Level 1 Equivalency:
Red Cross Emergency First Aid Blended certification is equivalent to Level 1 First Aid (OFA Level 1).

Participants must complete the online course before attending their in-person classroom session. Participants who have not completed the online course before their scheduled classroom session will not be admitted to the class and will be considered a 'no show'. 'No-shows' are not eligible for refunds or transfers.

Red Cross Emergency First Aid WorkSafeBC Equivalency Fact sheet

Emergency First Aid is a basic first aid course that teaches particpants lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home.

The course meets WorkSafe BC requirements and is accepted in B.C. workplaces. Emergency First Aid includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

Duration

8 hours of training includes:

Online theory (self-study) - 4 hours. You'll receive a link to your online training via email within 24 hours of registration.

Classroom skills session (in-person) - 4 hours plus breaks.

Participants must complete the online course before attending their in-person session. Participants who have not completed the online class before their scheduled classroom session will not be admitted to the class and will be considered a 'no show.' 'No-shows' are not eligible for refunds or transfers.

Instructor

Canadian Red Cross certified First Aid Instructor

Prerequisite

No previous training required.

Minimum recommended age: 12 years old

Participants will need internet access to complete the online theory component.

Blended Training

Participants must successfully complete the online self-study training before attending the classroom session. The online training doesn't have to be completed in one session. You can exit the program at the end of each module without losing your place. When you return, you will continue with the next module

Completion

  • Successfully complete the online module
  • Successfully demonstrate practical skills and critical steps
  • Minimum 75% mark for written knowledge evaluation
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

Certification

The Canadian Red Cross will email your Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certificate (valid for 3 years) to you when you have completed the course.

  • You are not required to do any pre-reading. However, if English is your second language, you may like to study the course book before your class. Once you have registered for a class, you can email us to request a copy of the eBook.
  • Upon successful completion of the course, the Canadian Red Cross will email your Emergency First Aid certificate to you.
