Emergency First Aid & CPR C - Summary

Emergency First Aid & CPR C is a basic one-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. The course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. WorkSafeBC recognizes Emergency First Aid & CPR C as equivalent to Level 1 First Aid (OFA Level 1).

Emergency First Aid & CPR C includes 8 hours of training. 4 hours online followed by 4 hours in-person classroom skills training. Our public course venue is conveniently located near the Coquitlam Centre.

Emergency First Aid & CPR C Course Details

Fee:
$130+GST per person. Includes CPR pocket mask (value $15) and Red Cross First Aid eBook (download).
Duration:
4 hours online + 5 hours in class (including breaks).
Online Learning:
The online self-paced study portion of the class must be completed before attending the in-person classroom-based skills and practical session.
CPR Level:
Includes CPR/AED Level C (adult, child and infant skills )

WorkSafe BC Level 1 Equivalency:
Red Cross Emergency First Aid Blended certification is equivalent to Level 1 First Aid (OFA Level 1).
WorkSafe BC - Certificates Accepted in BC.

Participants must complete the online course before attending the in-person classroom session they've registered for. Participants who have not completed the online class before their scheduled classroom session will not be admitted to the class and will be considered a 'no show'. 'No-shows' are not eligible for refunds or transfers.

Red Cross Emergency First Aid WorkSafeBC Equivalency Fact sheet

Basic first aid course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines.

Duration

8 hours of training includes:

Online theory (self-study) - 4 hours. You'll receive a link to your online training via email within 24 hours of registration.

Classroom skills session (in-person) - 4 hours plus breaks.

Participants must complete the online course before attending the in-person classroom session they've registered for. Participants who have not completed the online class before their scheduled classroom session will not be admitted to the class and will be considered a 'no show'. 'No-shows' are not eligible for refunds or transfers.

Instructor

Canadian Red Cross certified First Aid Instructor

Prerequisite

No previous training required.

Minimum recommended age: 12 years old

Participants will need internet access to complete the online theory component.

Blended Training

Participants must successfully complete the online self-study training before attending the classroom session. The online training doesn't have to be completed in one session - you can exit the program at the end of each module without losing your placement. When you return you will continue with the next module

Completion

  • Successfully complete the online module
  • Successfully demonstrate practical skills and critical steps
  • Minimum 75% mark for written knowledge evaluation
  • Attend and participate in 100% of the course

Certification

3-year certification in Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C (valid for 3 years) will be emailed to you when you have completed the course.

  • The Canadian Red Cross "First Aid and CPR Manual" (eBook) is available for you to download on completion of the class. Once certified, course participants can find digital manuals here: My Red Cross (myrc.redcross.ca) > My Profile > My Digital Books.
  • Pre-reading is not required, however, if English is your second language, you may like to study the course manual before your class. Once you have registered for a class you can email us to request a copy of the eBook.
  • Emergency First Aid e-certificate will be emailed to you on successful completion of the course.
