9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Canadian Red Cross Virtual Classroom Babysitting course Basic first aid and caregiving skills for youth 11–15 years old. Participants learn how to provide care to younger children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the training to promote themselves as a babysitter to prospective parents.
This course is delivered in a virtual classroom (using Zoom) by a certified Canadian Red Cross Youth Leader.
For virtual classes, the following is required:
- An adult must be onsite with the learner – they do not need to be present in the video, but must be available in the space to help when needed.
- Learners must have their video and audio on for the duration of the session so the instructor can see if they leave the room or are distracted.
Participants will need access to a computer or tablet with reliable internet access, webcam, speakers, and a microphone. We use the Zoom platform for our virtual classes. We will email you a link to access the class a few days before the start date. You don’t need to register for a Zoom account to participate in the class.
Participants are required to have some household items on hand as props during the virtual class. A list of items and further details will be provided in the confirmation email. We will mail a copy of the Red Cross Babysitting book to each participant before the course date.
***Course registration must be completed by the child’s parent or guardian***
Email addresses cannot be shared between Red Cross participants. If you have a Red Cross account from previous First Aid Training that same email address will not work for the child to obtain their Babysitter Course Certificate. Please register the child with an email address that is unique to them.
